Defending Israel- A Quick Question

Folks a friend of mine emailed me to ask me to help him defend Israel on a message board. I go back and forth about the practicality of engaging people in this kind of venue.

I am curious to learn whether you think that you can influence people or not. Do you think that people are open to different perspectives or is this a lost cause?

Unfortunately, lulei demistafina, it IS a lost cause to many who have already made up their minds. However, there are the individuals who genuinely want to understand the issues. Those, one can influence.

The mishnah says, "Know how to respond to a heretic," to which one rabbi observed, "Not that you will change the mind of the heretic, but you may influence the people overhearing."

I always wonder just how many people are open to new ideas.
